Anagama-fired porcelain (unglazed) pendant bezel-set in sterling silver. Strung with agates, amber, and medium metal heishi beads using a bunched/tight style of pearl knotting. All findings handmade of sterling silver. Clasp at back. Necklace length: 44 cm / 17 in.
This pendant was fired in the back of the Clay Studio of Missoula anagama kiln several years ago. The face of the pendant is the side the piece was fired on, i.e. the "bottom," so the white center shows where the wad was placed, and the flashing shows the flame/heat/ash path moving around the wadding. The delicate and complex flashing makes me so happy!
*Care note: pearl-knot necklaces should be stored laid flat, not hanging. Do not wear swimming or in the shower.
